Even though Indians are less susceptible to this pathetic disease Alzheimer’s when compared to the West, it deserves proper importance and awareness to the people. There are many reasons found out for this disease like food habits and living conditions and apparently lower cholesterol level among Indians, particularly those in rural areas. While this is good news for the elderly who are most vulnerable to the disease, much more research needs to be done on the prevalence of this alignment in India since more people are reluctant to disclose that their aging relatives are affected by Alzheimer’s. The symptoms of this progressive brain disease are impairment of the memory, intellect and personality. Among most Indian families, a person suffering from this disease would be treated much in a manner of embarrassing and kept out of the sight of the others. It is recently only that people have begun to accept this forgetfulness and disturbing behavior pattern is as a result of a medical condition. Though there is not a proper cure for this disease, some of its symptoms can be revealed by timely treatment. Proper care and kind response to this helpless people is necessary and inevitable for justifying humanity because they are also one among us.

It may be due to abnormality in the genetic material of transformed cells, smoke, chemicals, radiations like x-rays, gamma rays. Cancer causing genes are known as oncogenes. Cancer could be treated with radiotherapy with the use of radiations, chemotherapy which utilizes the chemicals interfering in cell multiplication, immunotherapy that targets with the body’s immune system, hormone therapy where the hormones are designed to control cancer cells and gene therapy where the damaged gene is altered.
